Los Angeles – Sep 22, 2022 – Meet VentureX MBA, a program teaching business conducted through dynamic videos and animation.
“What if learning business could be as fun as checking your social media each day, to the point where it’s just as addicting? Alright, maybe that’s too far!” Kosko laughs. “But what if learning were to become something you looked forward to every morning?”
VentureX MBA teaches the MBA core with a revamped curriculum. Older, inapplicable concepts have been swapped out and replaced with today’s most innovative strategies.
“Traditionally, most MBA programs utilize case studies from the Harvard Business Review. These are great, but often outdated and boring to read,” Kosko explains. “Our case studies come in the form of short videos where you gain nuggets of knowledge right from the source, as we interview the experts directly. It’s interesting to watch and the information actually sticks.”
The duo first met back in 2015 while working at UCLA Extension’s Corporate Programs department, where they created customized business courses for international executives coming to the US.

“We’ve realized a lot of global execs come to California for this training because we’ re at the forefront of business innovation, whether it’s entrepreneurship, digital marketing, or strategic thinking. It all starts here. Yet why isn’t there a program focused on this? Not just for foreigners but young professionals here as well.”
Through Kosko and Shayestehpour involvement in the creation of over 200 programs, they became experts in curriculum development and were responsible for building out some of the institution’s most profitable programs. “We used to sit through so many business classes that we started to learn what was relevant and what wasn’t. And this helped us develop material directly based on today’s workforce needs.”
This inspired the young women to launch their own school. “Our original plan was to start with in-person classes. Which began to take off, but the COVID-19 pandemic struck and forced everyone to quarantine. So we had to pivot to online, which could eventually allow us to scale faster.”
Although aiming to disrupt it, the co-founders admit there is value in the current higher education model. “We’re not looking to completely replace the traditional MBA program, as this can be a great tool to advance your career. But we are looking to stir it up, wake it up to what it’s missing, and inspire change. Our long-term goal is to eventually partner with institutions to provide our programs as additional learning tools – resources students can use to help understand complex topics,” says Kosko.
Shayestepour holds a doctorate degree in Education, EdD, from UCLA and Kosko an MBA from UCLA Anderson’s School of Management.
The first MBA course is set to go live in December but pre-enrollments have already started. Will the program have an impact on higher learning? We’ll have to wait and see.
